DynBCN A Constructive Geometric Constraint-based Dynamic Geometry System
One of the goals of the Grup d’Informàtica a l’Enginyeria of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya at Barcelona is to conduct research on geometric constraint solving and its applications. Here we offer to the community dynBCN, a software prototype of a dynamic geometry system based on a constructive geometric constraint solving technology. So far we are offering a jar Java file. In the near...
متن کاملDiscrete Geometry and Symbolic Dynamics
The aim of this survey is to illustrate various connections that exist between word combinatorics and arithmetic discrete geometry through the discussion of some discretizations of elementary Euclidean objects (lines, planes, surfaces). We focus on the role played by dynamical systems (toral rotations mainly) that can be associated in a natural way with these discrete structures. We show how cl...
متن کاملSymbolic computations in differential geometry
We introduce the C++ library Wedge, based on GiNaC, for symbolic computations in differential geometry. We show how Wedge makes it possible to use the language C++ to perform such computations, and illustrate some advantages of this approach with explicit examples. In particular, we describe a short program to determine whether a given linear exterior differential system is involutive.
متن کاملInteractive Geometry Decals
We present a novel real-time method for geometric displacement mapping on arbitrary 2-manifold triangle meshes. It is independent of the surface resolution and allows very fine geometric details to be added. We first compute a local surface parameterization using barycentric particle tracing and a constrained mass-spring system. This system satisfies the hard constraint of keeping all mass poin...
متن کاملQualitative Symbolic Perturbation: a new geometry-based perturbation framework
In the literature, the generic way to address degeneracies in computational geometry is the Symbolic Perturbation paradigm: the input is made dependent of some parameter ε so that for ε positive and close to zero, the input is close to the original input, while at the same time, in non-degenerate position. A geometric predicate can usually be seen as the sign of some function of the input. In t...
